Must-See Exhibits in Tifton that Children Will Love!
Polly Huff, Curator at GMA Art Gallery, is known for her creativity, for bringing in exhibits that are diverse and unique, for looking at the needs of the community in her decision-making. And that’s what Polly has done again with two must-see exhibits.
Colin’s Creatures: A World of Sheep
Artist: Colin Richmond
Using Steiff woven fur, porcelain, castable stone, and other materials, the artist brings sheep to life. His collection of sheep will make you ooh and aah, expecting the animals to move, waiting for a mother to lick her baby. That’s how unbelievably real the sheep are! Look for their personalities when you view the exhibit. Look for the tenderness of a mother sheep, the boldness of a ram, the sweetness of a lamb.
I believe the artist’s genius is revealed through the personalities of his creations.

9 a.m – 4 p.m. on Saturdays
From Azure to Zaffre
Artist: Donna Falcone
Author L.L. Barkat and local artist and illustrator Donna Falcone have created a bold and beautiful book, “A is for Azure,” filled with the magic of colors and the dance of words. Perfect for children, yet candy to adults, the artist introduces artistic elements and expresses emotion in unbelievable ways, weaving the mystery of color and art into magnificent pieces, pairing colors together, separating colors, swirling colors, churning exciting pigments into creative poetic beauty and interest, often in the abstract form.
Donna Falcone’s art covers the walls of the gallery. She uses fire, forced gravity, and forced air to make her alcohol inks. Like a child, she plays when creating, and children will be drawn to her art. They will love the new colors, the ink alcohol art featuring all the letters of the alphabet, the cadence of the words used to describe the colors. This artist’s exhibit is a child’s dream!
The opening exhibit opens at 2:00 PM on Sunday, September 16. It is free and open to the public. It will feature a demonstration and a lecture. Bring your children! They will love it!
